Contextual Design

Contextual inquiry is a user-centered design (UCD) method that is integral to the lifecycle of any product development. The goal is to understand how and why something is done or why something is not done.

The contextual inquiry requires the observing of work in its live context. After the observations, discussion ensues wherein users’ daily routines or processes are discovered so that a product or any other content can be best designed to either become more efficient or make the user more efficient.
